MVA Mustang Campaign 2025-2026

From Practice to Performance

Do you remember feeling nervous before that first choir or band concert? Recall the jitters and sweaty palms? Your parents said “practice makes perfect,” and you and the group did practice. But in this moment, the practicing doesn’t feel like it matters. Will my instrument squeak? Will my fingers get tangled up on that run? Will I keep time and come in at the right moment?

Many MVA alumni will remember their music teachers – Earl Johnson, Milton Wheeler, Tim Hanson, Sherrick Hiscock, Michael Song, David Dunkin, Douglas Knecht – and warmly recall the group, their friends, a song, or a music tour. But do you also remember all of the practices and the efforts that you, your fellow band/choir members, and your teacher put in to grow from uncertain individual voices to a cohesive, harmonious ensemble?

In a way, the work of Mountain View Academy’s students and staff is very similar to the work of any music group – to come together and grow together, to build harmony and community, and to share its music with the world. At MVA, we work not merely to encourage students to master the skills to pursue career goals, but also to learn to love God and share His love. We strive to form a safe and caring community for students as they learn skills, explore possibilities, develop grit, and grow in confidence about their power to make a positive difference in the world.

But Mountain View Academy’s students and staff need your support. We need people like you to come together with us to help make life-changing Adventist Christian education available to this generation. MVA’s vision statement is “Leading students to love learning, serving, and living for Eternity.” Will you help us make this vision a reality for MVA students?

With your help during last year’s Mustang Campaign, we raised over $17,000 to repair our redwood siding, begin construction of our school security fence, and support worthy students. Many of you helped us raise over $19,000 for the Band Room Renovation Project as well. Thank you for your generous donations to help us meet those needs!

This year’s $140,000 Mustang Campaign is focused on other pressing needs:

  • Repair redwood siding – MVA’s classic redwood siding is over 50 years old and in need of restoration work. More donations are needed to repair panels and beams.

    NEED: $15,000 ($5,000 previously raised)

  • Complete the school fence project – Grants and donations have provided funds to pay for materials and project-planning costs. Now we’re just waiting on permits, and we need your gifts to help us complete the fence and make a safer campus. NEED: $50,000 for fence and security gate ($60,000 previously raised)

  • Renovate the cafeteria – The cafeteria space and adjoining classrooms are looking tired after 55+ years of lunches and events. NEED: $75,000 for new room dividers, carpet and paint.

  • Support worthy students – While costs of running the school rise every year, the need for tuition assistance rises, too. Generous donors continue to partner with MVA to see that families in need can have access to Christian education. Over 80% of MVA students receive some form of discount, scholarship, or financial aid.

Would you be willing to contribute $100, $1,000, or more? Your gift will provide Mountain View Academy’s students with facility upgrades as well as needed funds for tuition assistance. Your support will advance MVA’s vision to provide Christian education that instills in our students a desire to become lifelong learners and servants, to better prepare them for the Second Coming.

Will you consider a gift today to the Mustang Campaign? Our goal is to complete the campaign by December 31. Practice and planning time is over. It’s time to perform. This is a group effort – we can do this together. We need you in the band! All we now need is your generous donation to keep our work of Christian education moving forward.

We pray for our MVA friends and alumni. We hope that God’s blessings sustain you as we move into the new year. Merry Christmas to you!

With Sincere Gratitude,

Marc Andres, Principal

Renée Koerner, School Board Chair

Rose Shimizu, Fundraising Chair

P.S. The Mustang Campaign will go towards gym redwood wall restoration, school fencing, and cafeteria room upgrades – all to provide students with the best facilities and security to promote learning here and for eternity. Please do your part to help Mountain View Academy train young lives for Christ. Thank you for your support!
